Over 120 million rabbits are killed by drivers each year. Over 450 million rabbits fall prey to hunters. Rabbits die under mowing and other farm machinery, or from various infections that strike them in the first weeks of their lives. However, no official statistical data exists. Why do we keep count? Simply because it is imperative to identify the trends in the rabbit population growth: are the numbers on the decline? Are they multiplying? Do they remain constant? |
